THE MEANEST, FATTEST LOW-PITCHED SOUND AROUND
Sometimes the sound of a harmonica in regular tuning is just not fat enough to really counterbalance the power of guitar, bass and drums. Fitted with our patented bamboo comb, the Marine Band Thunderbird offers the perfect solution. It’s tuned one octave lower than standard harps and features an innovative tapered cover design to prevent reed rattle, inspired by the work of legendary harmonica customizer Joe Filisko. The lowest tuned diatonic model in our portfolio, it deliverers a powerful, rich sound that’ll make the floor shake. Experience a hitherto unknown dimension of deep-toned harmonica playing, let it carry you away into new sonic adventures, and reshape the perception of how the harmonica sounds.

Feel like a fat kid with a donut

My wife tells me I have too many harps, but I did not have a Hohner Thunderbird. They are rather pricey and I have been happy with my low-keyed harmonicas made by Lee Oskar, Seydel, my Hohner Rockets, and especially my Manji Olives. But the Thunderbird is a whole new game.

My new Thunderbird was in-tune right out of the of box and very responsive. Most low tuned harps seem to be great for ‘chugging’, and all the YouTube reviews demonstrate T’birds using that technique or with lots of vibrato. I seldom play that way. I play single note melodies in first position, almost exclusively.

The Thunderbird shines on single notes and makes it easier than any of my other low tuned harps, to hit and hold every note with a consistent tone and volume. They help me sound better than I actually am.

So, would I recommend them to you? Absolutely! Rockin’ Ron has them in stock and will ALWAYS treat you like a family member. Take the plunge, you won’t be disappointed.

everyone knows. why a review?

Asking for a review for this product is like asking if a rainbow is good or if a star-ry nighttime sky is good or if true love is good or if honesty is good or if going camping or going on vacation is good. OK I will give it a review. It is good. No I do not personally own one yet but also I am not in heaven yet either. Your harp pal, Harmonica "Blues Dance" Lance
