Solist- a great harp. I was WRONG!

I need to apologize to the folks at Kongsheng for my prior review. And to Rockin Ron’s.

Yes I did receive two harps that had defects. They replaced them.

As time goes on and I play these Kongsheng Solist harps in a gig setting, the better they are. Compared with my quiver of Seydel Session Steels, the Solist is easy to play and loud.

Best way to describe the difference is like a guitar’s action. The Solists are easy to play, like a guitar with low action. The Solists are set up to be highly responsive to a low volume of air. After playing them for a while, going back to the Seydels feels like a lot of work. I’m huffing and puffing to get the notes out on the Seydels.

This became clear only when I had the chance to go back and forth between the two brands in the course of a gig.

I did buy a couple Kongsheng Mars which were just okay. They were fine, and a good value for the price. Not crazy about the circular holes.

But the Solist is a top notch harmonica, and I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the kind review and for your business!
We appreciate you.

Meh

Don’t believe the hype! A very overrated instrument!

Bought two of these based on a lot of research, some good reviews and a strong endorsement from a friend. I should not have done that.

Very confused by these reviews. How are people giving these five stars? Either I just got bad harps or people have very low standards.

They’re just sort of okay. Meh. Decent value for the cheap price, but vastly inferior to anythjng offered by Seydel, my primary harps. Leaky, not very responsive. They are beautiful and easy to play, but they are more like a child’s instrument or something for a beginner. These will require significant modification to even approach the out-if-the-box quality of my Seydels.

I wish I could return them, but I understand I cannot sue to health laws. I’m stuck with these, so I will try to enhance them however I can.

In the future I will just purchase new Reed plates for my Seydels when they break.

If you’re an experienced player, do not waste your money on lower quality instruments like these. Buy quality.

The Soloist is a great harmonica. Well made and nice looking. An easy, comfortable, and smooth playing instrument. I love being able to get the over-blows right out of the box. Please keep producing this model.
