Folks: FYI. These do not have conical bottom cover plates. Here is info from Hohner regarding this topic. "This model doesn’t have the conical design. From what HMI is telling me it shouldn’t need it until you get below C. Which is why they stopped there. We didn’t have any issues out at SPAH with them. If you are hearing issues, tell the customer to contact us.

Hits the (low) spot!

I have a "spare" harp in every key (and multiple spares in certain keys - always good for travel, hiking, going out in a boat, or accidentally leaving in a rental car), but didn't previously have a second Low F in my set. The Low F I already had was another well-known brand, and plays quite nicely. But encouraged by the Hohner name (I own Hohner harps in at least 10 keys) and a video review by Hohner endorsee Ronnie Shellist, I gave the Rocket Low F a try. I LOVE it. Great tone, great playability, great overall feel, great volume, and everything else. And while I've seen reviews here and elsewhere questioning the comb color, there's nothing else in my harp case with this bright aqua blue color. So now when I reach for a Low F, there'll be no question but, "This is the one!"

Hohner Rocket Low

I purchased several Hohner Rocket Low harmonicas back a few months ago and wanted to wait a bit before submitting a review. I am happy to say that I have been extremely pleased with my investment! The Hohner Rocket Lows are air tight, have great reed response, and are very easy to play! Some may ask, 'do you hear any reed rattle?' Well, I have notice a little when playing second position on the low end, mostly Low D. But, easing up and controlling your breathe, will remedy this!
If you are in need of a Harmonica in keys Low C through Low F, I highly recommend the Hohner Rocket Low!
Also, with Rockin Rons prompt customer service, I had my harmonicas in two days!

Rocket Low-Keys

I love everything about these harps, except maybe the blue combs. They're easy to play, responsive, and very loud for a low key harp. This is my absolute favorite low key harp. Some people will complain that they hear a rattling on the 1 hole due to the reed hitting the cover plate. This can happen with all low key harmonicas due to the length of the reed. If this happens, don't worry about it. That slight rattle you hear can't be heard by other people. Ignore it - no worries! Some people try changing cover plates, and sometimes even bending the cover plates. I admit to doing this myself on a low key Special 20 in the past. But I don't recommend it. Just ignore the slight rattling, if it even occurs, and rock that low harp! Low key harps are a must for every harmonica player. You need at least a low F and low D in your kit.

Hohner" Rocket Low (F)

When I first got my "Hohner" Rocket Low (F) I did not at first like it...I thought that there was a bit of buzz/rattle on the inhale number (1) hole when I would say da or do on the inhale? So I installed it on a Special 20 comb with Turbo Harp covers and LOVED it! I played it like this for several days and then put it back together as it came to me and my mind was blown away!

It is the BEST playing harmonica I have, regardless of the key..all through the 1980s and 90s I did CD reviews and would never do a bad review.. If I did not like the CD I would put it away and listen to it later and reevaluate it and with a fresh outlook be it weeks or months down the road..and that is what happened with the "Hohner" Rocket Low (F) :) I have now just ordered one in Low (D) from "Rockin' Ron"!
