SEYDEL's Next-Generation Low-Harmonicas: the lowest sounding Blues harmonica in the world - with new Baritone design & Stainless Steel reeds.

The 1847 CLASSIC is now available in super-low tunings, redesigned to include a 20% thicker comb and raised coverplates. Available keys range from LF# (low F sharp) down to LLE (double-low E). This innovation expands our 1847 line of Stainless Steel reed harmonicas to include the extreme bass range.

The double-low models (LL) are tuned two octaves lower than standard, making SEYDEL’s 1847 LLE the lowest tuned diatonic harmonica worldwide.

In comparison to the 'standard tuned' models, low-tuned harmonicas offer a very sonoric, slightly softer and unobtrusive sound making them an excellent choice for accompaniment (chords or bass lines) as well as for soloing. Their sound is similar to that of a tenor saxophone, a trombone, or even a tuba, especially if played amplified. This considerably extends the range of application and opens many new possibilities for harmonica players.

To get the desired sound out of the low-tuned models the notes need more space. The resonance chamber, increased by the 20% thicker comb (sealed walnut) and the higher coverplates of the new 1847 Low models, help to produce a fatter and louder sound. Special Valves ensure very good airtightness even in the extreme low range.

This design change has a positive impact on sonority and tonal control of the 1847 Low models. While the player is animated to open his or her vocal tract slightly more to increase the resonance chamber, the improvements in design, such as the thicker comb aid in creating the larger resonance chamber, yielding a superior, low sound. The sound becomes fuller and more voluminous and the instrument can be played with a better response.

Thanks to the raised coverplates rattling reed noise is a thing of the past and players get a greater sound projection towards the audience through the wide-opened back of the instrument.

Not a toy

I had a few bucks to spare so I decided to buy the "lowest diatonic harmonica in the world" just for a novelty. What I got was a fully functioning, beautifully made, and fabulous sounding musical instrument. Wow! Go low. You won't regret it.

OMG!!!

Received 10 low tones as a gift. LLE, LLF, G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, E, and F. Oh My God! Mercedes of harps, and what beautiful music they make!!! I have a standard C harp of another brand, and there is no comparison in quality. Seydel makes better quality instruments, and these low tones are gorgeous in feel and sound. I found the brand I'm with for life!!!!!!!

Eb Low Tone...WOW!!!

My first experience was with a MB Low F about 20 years ago and it left me thinking- the only less useful diatonic made was probably the High G. As I've matured beyond the 6 blow I found myself loving the possibilities of life > the first octave but HATING the ice-pick-to-earhole-piccolo-madness ...enter the Low Tone...the Bari of harps - it even feels like a different animal, in heft and craftsmanship.I dare someone to call this harmonica a toy. The Eb allows me to play in the standard horn keys of Eb,Bb and F and I can finally run all the way up to 10 without sounding like a helium-huffing jazz nerd. My Low Bb is on the way!

WOW!!!

Rockin Rons service is the greatest. (quick). I just received a Seydel 1847 Low E and one look the craftmanship is excellent. Played a song and mellow tone melted the music into something beautiful. Great harp.

Beautiful instrument

I will start out by saying that I'm not really a diatonic player. I do a little first position stuff, but I'm far from being a skilled player. I was drawn to this instrument because I like low tones and because the walnut comb is so beautiful to see, I just had to play one! The pictures really don't show the quality of this instrument.

I found the low C to be quite playable. The LLF was much more challenging for me when playing single notes. A more experienced player might do better than me. Both instruments were easy to play cords on. Just be ready to take a breath with each cord you play, they do need a lot of wind!
